Product Description

3M 60927 mercury vapor cartridge, P100 particulate filter (pair)

Respirators are used as a safety device to protect workers from inhaling dangerous substances such as chemicals and infectious particles. Respirators are one of the most important pieces of protective equipment for working in hazardous environments and selecting an appropriate respirator requires an assessment of all the workplace operations, processes or environments that may create a respiratory hazard. By identifying the hazard and its airborne concentrations, workers can determine a proper respirator and correct cartridge and/or filter. This assessment should be done by experienced safety personnel or by an industrial hygienist.

Even with engineering controls, the removal/replacement of mercury dental fillings generates quantities of mercury particulate that can exceed both the California Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 25 ug/m3 for mercury and the California Ceiling for Mercury (100 ug/m3), which is a never to exceed level.

The 3M™ mercury vapor / particulate cartridge / filter is designed for use with 3M™ 6000, 6500, 7500 half mask series and the FF-400, 6000 and 7800 full face series of respirators and is NIOSH approved for protection against mercury vapor and mercury particulates. The swept-back design allows an enhanced field of view and comfort and bayonet compatibility allows use with many 3M reusable half and full facepiece designs. Quantity per package = 2.

  • NIOSH approved for protection against mercury vapor, chlorine or sulfur dioxide and certain particulates
  • Swept-back design allows an enhanced field of view and comfort
  • Bayonet compatibility allows use with many 3M reusable half and full facepiece designs

Full facepieces must be quantitatively fit tested to claim assigned protection factor above 10 in negative pressure mode. Do not use in environments that are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH).

Note: Your Hazard Assessment will determine you cartridge / filter change out program. If you have not done a Hazard Assessment, 3M recommends changing the 60927 within 50 hours of exposure to mercury vapor, in accordance to your well-documented change-out schedule, or earlier if smell, taste, or irritation from contaminants is detected. Replace the cartridges/filters if they become damaged or if breathing becomes difficult.
